Royal Hobart Show

Last week was a state holiday for the annual Royal Hobart Show. It fell on a Thursday, so everyone also took Friday off, which made it difficult to schedule any interviews. Instead, I decided to check out the show. Tasmania is a small, rural island. The Show reminded me of our county fairs back home in rural Oregon. I loved seeing the kids dressed up in their best clothes to show their animals. There was goat judging (no goats no glory!), log chopping competitions, sheep shearing, a rodeo. I guess attendance has dwindled over the years, but I really appreciated getting a glimpse into a different side of Tassie than the one I usually encounter.
